Obituary for Ronald "Ronnie" W. Iwen

Ronald "Ronnie" Iwen, 81, Algoma, passed away Sunday Feb. 18, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital, Green Bay. He was born July 7, 1936 in Algoma to Henry and Viola (Haucke) Iwen.
Ronnie attended St. Paul's Grade School until 3rd grade and then went to the Algoma Public School until 8th grade. Ronnie graduated from the Algoma High School in 1954.
Ronnie worked at the Algoma Plywood. During that time he enlisted in the Army and serviced two years on the East Coast at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. After he returned home he returned to work at the Algoma Plywood until it closed. He then worked at Bayship Building for six years, then he returned to the Algoma Hardwoods until his retirement.
Ronnie married Carol Deprez on June 29, 1963.
Ronnie enjoyed his precious time with his wife, children and grandchildren, shooting pool, bowling, doing yard work, especially his flower beds, cutting wood and walking his dog.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol, two children Scott (Kim) Iwen, Algoma and Jamie Martin, Luxemburg; 10 grandchildren Kaitlynn Iwen (special friend Wade), Sturgeon Bay, Nick and Jeremy Iwen, Algoma, Derek Martin (special friend Mariah), Alek Martin (special friend Emily), Luxemburg, Dominick Martin, Luxemburg; four special step grandchildren Alex Mura, Algoma, Amanda Mura, Oregon, Miranda and Levi Schmidt, Casco; special daughter-in-law Lisa Schmidt and her husband Mark; two sisters Ethel Zimmerman, Algoma and Karen (Ted) Goetzel, Georgia; brothers in-law Ken (Sally) Deprez, Green Bay; Mark (Carol) Deprez, Hartland; Walter Deprez Jr., Sturgeon Bay and Allen (Sue) Deprez, Algoma; one sister-in-law Diane Brans, Algoma; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ronnie was preceded in death by son Duane, parents Henry and Viola, father and mother-in-law Walter and Josephine (Chaudoir) Deprez, two brothers-in-law James Deprez and Harvey Zimmerman.
Family and friends may call at St.Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 from 8:30 AM until the time of services at 11:30 AM with Rev. John Moll and Rev. Joel McKenney officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
The family wants to thank St. Mary's Hospital, 5th floor nurses and the oncology doctors for trying everything they could for Ronnie.
The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, assisted the family with arrangements.
