Obituary for Craig E Cochenet

Craig E. Cochenet, 57, Door County, passed on to his rewards January 5, 2019. He was born Sept. 12, 1961 and was the loving son of Douglas and Fay (Anderson) Cochenet. They preceded him in death along with his nephew Jason Delarwelle.
Craig was a veteran who served his country in the Air Force as a airframe and power plant mechanic. When he returned home he earn a trade school degree in the Millwright profession. Craig would work as a Boilermaker union brother for many years, including Bay Shipbuilding. His fabricating skills led him to work in Upper Michigan and at Sturgeon Bay's own Exact Tech Corp.
Coming from an outdoorsman background, Craig loved to hunt and was an avid fisherman. He would travel and compete in fishing tournaments both in open water and ice. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, his Monte Carlo drag car was another passion of his and at least a couple outings a year at the drag strip was mandatory. His experience as a metal worker and Mr. fix-it attitude brought requests from many friends for both help and ideas. This fit well with his love of chilling with friends and showing off his cooking skills of which he excelled at.
He is survived by his precious step daughter Amanda Zastrow (Matt Charles), his granddaughter Elanda Charles, two sisters Lisa (Joe) Cihlar and Terri (Scott) Delarwelle and nephew Steven Delarwelle.
Craig had arranged to donate his body to science for further research.
A Celebration of Craig's life will follow in spring with notices when the family knows more about the details.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Door Cancer.
The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, assisted the family with local arrangements.
