Our History


Bill Schinderle began his career as a funeral director in Stockbridge, WI when he purchased the Schumacher Furniture Store and Funeral Home in 1953.

January 1, 1967 he purchased the Haucke Funeral Home in Algoma, WI., which had been serving Algoma residence since the 1890’s. In June of 1967 Bill’s wife Jan and their four children, Steve, Denis, Laurie and Midge, moved to Algoma.

In 1971 Bill bought five acres of land west of Algoma on Highway 54 and built their new funeral home which is their current location today.

In 1978, Bill’s daughter Laurie chose to become a funeral director as her career. Laurie finished her schooling and graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1982. In 1992 Laurie took over the business operations when Bill decided to semi-retire. That was 25 years ago and Bill still helps at the funeral home to this day.
