Obituary for Norman LeRoy Paul

Norman L. Paul, 94, Algoma, WI, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at Oak Creek Assisted Living. He was born May 24, 1922 at the Paul Homestead, Town of Ahnapee, WI to Frank and Minnie (Lindstedt) Paul. Norman attended Kodan School in the Town of Ahnapee.
As a teenager he began working at the Kodan Cheese Factory and received a cheesemaker’s license. He later drove an open rack milk truck picking up milk cans from the farmers while helping his father on the family farm, which has been in the Paul family since 1867 when it was settled by the first Paul family from Austria. He met Rita LeCaptain and married her on June 10, 1950 at the Holy Rosary Church in Kewaunee, WI. Norman and Rita purchased the Paul Family Homestead Farm from Norman’s father. He also worked at the U.S. Plywood/Algoma Hardwoods for 20 years while still farming.
Norman took pleasure in photography along with developing and enlarging photos in his personal dark room. He started scanning pictures into his computer and at times would take old worn pictures, scan them and touch them up to look good again. Norman had fun playing cards with friends and in senior clubs. He and his wife, Rita, enjoyed traveling. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Algoma all his life and also a member of both Algoma and Kewaunee Senior Citizen Clubs, Algoma Golden Age Club and Maple-Forest Seniors Club.
Norman is survived by two daughters: Jeanette (Richard) Entringer, Kokomo, IN; Marian Paul, Madison, WI; three sons: Richard (Blanche) Paul, Sheboygan, WI; Kenneth (Barbara) Paul, Fort Collins, CO and Daniel (Sue) Paul, Janesville, WI; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister June (Willard) Mickelson, two sisters-in-law: Angela (Lloyd) Paul; Mary (Leander) Paul; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; four brothers, three sisters-in-law: Harold (Amy) Paul; Leander (Annabelle) Paul; Sylvester
(Muriel) Paul; Lloyd Paul; and brother-in-law: Willard Mickelson.
